When to choose Airalo

From what airalo.com states, Airalo can be the better purchase in these cases:

  • A trip to one country. A single-country package can cost less than a plan built for a route: Greece with 5GB for 30 days is US$12.00 on Airalo.
  • A route inside one region. A regional eSIM such as Europe (41 countries) or EU + UK (28 countries) covers the region with one package.
  • You need a phone number. Airalo's Global Discover+ packages include a US +1 number with minutes and SMS, and some of its country eSIMs include local calls and texts; Hoam eSIM is data only.
  • You prefer an app. The Airalo app tracks data use and handles top-ups, and every purchase earns 5% to 10% back in Airmoney, depending on the loyalty level.

When to choose Hoam eSIM

Your trip crosses several countries. HOAM Dynamic eSIM is one eSIM for the whole route: you pick the countries on your itinerary, choose the amount of data, and one plan covers them all. The route does not have to match any region's borders.

You travel more than once. The eSIM stays on your phone between trips and costs nothing while you are home. The next trip is a new plan loaded onto the same eSIM from the browser, with no new QR code. See how reloading works.

You do not want an app. Choosing, paying, installing and reloading all happen in the browser.

You want a person on the other end. Support is human, 24/7, in the language you ordered in.

Hoam eSIM is data only. If you need a local phone number, calls or SMS, keep your own SIM for those; your number keeps working beside the Hoam eSIM line.

How the comparison was made

Every Airalo cell is read from airalo.com and carries the page it came from and the date it was read. Our column is what our own site states, and our price is read live from the catalogue when this page is served. The price example uses one fixed route, Greece and Turkey with 5GB for 30 days, on every comparison page, so the pages can be read side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hoam eSIM an Airalo alternative for multi-country trips?

For a route of several countries, yes: one HOAM Dynamic eSIM covers every country on it with one plan, valid 30 days from the first connection at your destination. Whether an Airalo plan covers the same route is answered in the table. On Airalo, the Europe eSIM (41 countries) includes both; the cheaper EU + UK eSIM does not include Turkey.

Can one Hoam eSIM cover countries that are not in one Airalo regional plan?

Hoam eSIM prices the countries you choose rather than a region, so one plan can combine countries that a regional grouping would split, as long as each is one of our 200+ destinations. Airalo sells fixed regional eSIMs, such as Europe (41 countries) and EU + UK (28 countries), plus Global.

Do I need an app?

Not for Hoam eSIM. You choose your countries, pay and install the eSIM from the browser, and reload it the same way. Airalo can also be bought on its website as well as in its app, and its help centre says the installation instructions come as a PDF attached to the order confirmation or eSIM delivery email.

Do I need a new eSIM for my next trip?

Not with Hoam eSIM. The eSIM stays installed on your phone between trips at no cost, and the next trip is a new plan loaded onto it, with no new QR code to scan. On Airalo, a top-up goes onto the installed eSIM when that eSIM is rechargeable; otherwise it is a new eSIM.
